California Utilities

Currently, the Vue: Utility Connect can only connect to AMI Smart Meters through: Ameren in IL, Burlington Electric in VT, First Energy in PA, Green Mountain Power (GMP) in VT, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) in CA, Pennsylvania Power & Light (PPL) in PA, Southern California Edison (SCE) in CA ($25 rebate available!), and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE) in CA

However, we are working with all of these electric utilities in California to support connecting wirelessly to your AMI Smart Meter with The Emporia Vue: Utility Connect for ZigBee® Enabled Smart Meters.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E)

Almost any PG&E customer can connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their PG&E Smart Meter. Ensure you are eligible before purchasing a Vue.  Login to your My Energy account at pge.com.  Click “Stream My Data” toward the bottom of the page.

How to connect to PG&E for rate plans E1, E6, EVA, A1, A6 or A10

  1. From the Stream My Data dashboard you will be able to see if you have an eligible meter by entering your account and address. You meter should appear in a list toward the bottom of the page. If your smart meter is not eligible, please contact PG&E at streamMyData@pge.com or call 1-877-743-4357.
  2. Click the “Register New Device” link located under your meter badge ID on the Stream My Data dashboard
  3. Enter the following data:
    • Name: Unique name of your choice
    • Make & Model: Other
    • Manufacturer: Emporia
    • Model: Vue
    • Device Type: In-Premise Display
    • MAC ID and Install Code: Located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging.
  4. Your Vue should now be connected, showing real-time data in the Emporia app. If the device does not successfully pair the first time, try again later or call 1-877-743-4357

How to connect to PG&E for rate plans ETOU-A or ETOU-B
(or if your meter is not listed in the web portal)

Call Stream My Data Customer Support at 1-877-743-4357 (Mon.-Fri. 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) so that a representative can assist you with registering and pairing your device to your SmartMeter™. When calling, you will need to be present at the location where you would like your device to be paired, and prepared to provide the following information:

  • Device MAC Address (16-digits) Located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging.
  • Installation Code (16-digits): Located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging.
  • Manufacturer: Emporia
  • Model: Vue

Southern California Edison (SCE) – $25 REBATE AVAILABLE

Almost any SCE customer can connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their SCE Smart Meter.

How to connect to SCE

  1. Login to SCE’s MyAccount page at sce.com and click on Device Management
  2. On the Device Management screen click on Register New Device.
  3. From the Register New Device screen, enter the following:
    • Device Number (MAC Address) and Install Code: Located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging.
    • Device Type: In-Premise Display
    • Manufacturer: Emporia (Other)
    • Model: Vue (Other)
    Then, click Next.
  4. Confirm that your device information was entered correctly and then click Submit.
  5. Read the Terms and Conditions of Device Registration. If agreeable, please click the box “I have read and agree”. This will also activate the registration of your device.
  6. Confirmation message will appear. Scroll to the bottom of the page then, select Go to Device Management Page.
  7. You should now be back to the Device Management. To Enroll in Daily Cost Snapshot click the Programs tab and click Enroll Now.
  8. The program enrollment confirmation message will appear. Click Enroll Now.
  9. You’ll receive a confirmation message for your request. It can take up to 24 hours to complete the process.

San Diego Gas and Electric (SDGE)

Almost any SDG&E customer can connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their SDGE Smart Meter.

How to connect to SDGE

  1. Collect the MAC Address and Install Code numbers located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging
  2. Make sure you have an active SDGE account
  3. Login to your Account at sdge.com. SDGE only allows device provisioning through their desktop site. It is not available on the SDGE Mobile Site
  4. Navigate to My Energy > Provision HAN Devices
  5. Verify your account and meter information and agree to Terms and Conditions by clicking the checkbox and clicking Next.
  6. Click to confirm that you agree to go to CEIVA’s web site to complete the process
    (Ceiva is SDGE’s authorized contractor for provisioning smart meter connections).
  7. On CEIVA’s web site, click Provisioning, then click Add Device
  8. Then, enter the following:
    • MAC Address and Install Code: Enter the numbers located on the Vue and the inside lid of the Vue packaging
      (The colons and dashes are formatted differently, just enter the numbers.)
    • Device Type: Gateway
    • Device Manufacturer: Emporia
      (The manufacturer list is long and Emporia is located toward the very bottom. If you cannot see it in the dropdown, try either typing Emporia or using your arrow keys. If neither of those work, try adjusting your browser’s zoom to 80 or 90%)
    • Device Model: Vue or leave blank
    • Name: Enter your own unique name for your Vue
  9. Click Add Device
  10. A status will be displayed. You’ll also receive an email confirming that your device is now registered to your smart meter.
    • The Vue is added to the meter when the status says provisioned
    • The Vue is connected to the meter when the status says joined

If you have any issues or errors, please send your Vue MAC address, Install Code, and SDGE meter # to HomeAreaNetwork@sdge.com and they will provision your Vue for you.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD)

Sacramento Municipal Utility District has compatible AMI Smart Meters. Please contact them directly to see if they will allow you to connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their meter.

Glendale Water and Power (GWP)

City of Glendale Water and Power has compatible AMI Smart Meters. Please contact them directly to see if they will allow you to connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their meter.

Palo Alto Utilities

City of Palo Alto Utilities has compatible AMI Smart Meters. Please contact them directly to see if they will allow you to connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their meter.

Modesto Irrigation District (MID)

Modesto Irrigation District has compatible AMI Smart Meters. Please contact them directly to see if they will allow you to connect the Emporia Vue: Utility Connect to their meter.
